The Olympics Beat featured in my hometown paper
It's been a little quiet on A Kindle in Hong Kong lately because I'm on holiday in the US. I spent a few weeks at my grandparents' farm on the Oregon coast (above), and now I'm at home with my family in Gilbert, Arizona. Most of my time has been spent hanging out with my siblings and watching the London Olympics on TV with my dad and fiance. This morning, my mom woke me up early to tell me that my e-book The Olympics Beat: A Spectator's Memoir of Beijing is on NBC local news for Phoenix and The East Valley Tribune. The article also appears in the print version of The East Valley Tribune which showed up in our driveway this morning!
What are you up to this summer? What's your favorite Olympic sport to watch?

Also enjoying the Olympics although NBC is cutting out a lot of countries and wish they would show more athletes than just the Americans. I was hooked on beach volleyball! It's my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, Kate. I feel like we're not getting the full story in any of the events because we really don't know what the athletes are competing against. We didn't even see the other undefeated American beach volleyball team until the final! If they didn't stop for commercials every ten minutes we'd get to see a lot more Olympics.
DeleteThe beach volleyball is impressive though. I'd love to be able to play that sport!
Congrats on the positive press, Shannon.
ReplyDeleteHere it was funny to see on Pearl TV this week: China described as in first place, when they had more gold medals than the US (but fewer overall).
Thanks!
DeleteI've been really curious about what the Olympics coverage would be like over there. I think the UK is using the gold medal count instead of the total count too. It put them ahead of Russia last time I checked.
I enjoy watching the Olympics on t.v. My favorite is volleyball women division.
