Bookspotting: Week 15

Most of the books I spotted this week were written in Chinese. I think I saw five, including one graphic novel. I saw two tourists with Hong Kong guidebooks near the Central Pier. I saw a woman with a Lonely Planet guidebook for Lisbon on the MTR. I spent a fair amount of time in coffee shops this weekend, but most of the people I saw there were working and socializing, not reading.

In other news, I've been working on a new feature for the blog that I'll roll out on Wednesday. I hope you're excited.

So, what are people reading in your town this week?

  1. +JMJ+

I saw someone with a brand new (still wrapped in plastic) copy of Rick Riordan's Throne of Fire, which is the second book in his Kane Chronicles. It caught my eye because the colours were so bright. Authors who get great cover art are so lucky!

  2. I love to see bright and unique covers! I haven't read any of the Rick Riordan books yet, but my younger sisters love them.

  3. Well, I've arrived in HK and I've started bookspotting! On walkway between Kowloon Station and Tung Chung Line I saw a Western man reading Lee Childs 61 hour(And not moving, hence slowing up the line!) On MTR I saw 2 young Chinese men reading novels although I've no idea what! I saw a young Western Mum reading "Simba's Journey" picture book to her mixed race son and lots of young Chinese women reading what looked like celeb gossip magazines. Also lots of people
reading newspapers on MTR, possibly free ones?

  4. Welcome to Hong Kong! It sounds like you are jumping right in to the Hong Kong bookspotting scene :). I hope you are settling in well so far.
